Artwork Passport
Every document about an artwork should resolve to the artwork — not to a folder of PDFs. The Artwork Passport is the digital identity that ties it together: an NFC tag or QR code on the work links to a live record carrying the certificate, provenance chain, condition history, and exhibition record. How does the NFC verification work?
An NFC tag affixed to the work (frame verso, stretcher, base) links to the artwork’s passport URL. A collector taps with their phone and sees the verification view — certificate status, provenance summary, and condition history. No app required.
What stops someone copying the tag?
The tag points to the record; the record is the evidence. A copied tag on a different object fails visual cross-check immediately — the passport shows the documented work’s images and details. The certificate number and registry entry must match the physical work.
Is the passport public?
The verification view is public by design — that is what makes it useful. Owner identity, pricing, and private notes stay behind the owner’s login.
