Document Type
Every document about an artwork should resolve to the artwork — not to a folder of PDFs. The Artwork Passport is the digital identity that ties it together: an NFC tag or QR code on the work links to a live record carrying the certificate, provenance chain, condition history, and exhibition record. Tap the frame, see the documentation. It is the difference between paperwork about art and documentation that travels with it.
Best for: Galleries offering verifiable works, artists building long-term provenance, and collectors who want to check before they wire.

An NFC tag affixed to the work (frame verso, stretcher, base) links to the artwork’s passport URL. A collector taps with their phone and sees the verification view — certificate status, provenance summary, and condition history. No app required.
The tag points to the record; the record is the evidence. A copied tag on a different object fails visual cross-check immediately — the passport shows the documented work’s images and details. The certificate number and registry entry must match the physical work.
The verification view is public by design — that is what makes it useful. Owner identity, pricing, and private notes stay behind the owner’s login.
